Did you know? Thomas the Tank Engine was created in1946 by Rev W V Awdry. Thomas is a locomotive and lives on the Island of Sodor. He is a friendly and helpful little train engine, bright blue in colour with red buffers and six wheels. After saving another engine called James, and standing out as a really useful engine, the Fat Controller saw his potential and gave him a job. His friends are Annie and Clarabel, his fantastic and loyal coaches. Over the years many people have narrated for the Thomas the Tank Engine television programme. The most famous of these being Ringo Star, the drummer from The Beatles. So from now on, when you wear your Thomas the Tank Engine apron, you will know more than just his name.
